Kayden Kross appears in The Critic
Kayden Kross is an amazing and versatile actress. It isn't uncommon for an adult film star to want to break into the mainstream. Many studio filmmakers pay lip service to the idea, but we embraced her readily simply because in interviews, she came across as one classy lady.
This also speaks for her persona on screen. As Line Producer, I noticed how Kayden moves with catlike grace and delivers her lines with such wide-eyed innocence. You can't help but be in awe of her, but also not be too intimidated by her. She becomes her character, playing the role of Tara, the main love interest in the Critic.
The funny thing is, as co-writer, I never liked the Tara character as I saw her as an airhead who got in the way of the main character's career. Kayden transcends that and brings the role up to the front, nearly eclipsing her co-stars. And that's not easy when you have Pollyanna McIntosh ("The Woman") and Dominique Swain ("Face Off," "Lolita") in your cast.
According to Wikipedia, Kayden Kross began stripping at the age of eighteen at Rick's Showgirls in Rancho Cordova to earn extra money to purchase a pony that was going to be slaughtered. She was later contacted by an agent and started modeling in adult magazines.
Signing with Vivid Video in November 2006, her movies Kayden's First Time, Hard Time, and Be Here Now. Unhappy with the company, she became a free agent one year later when she did not renew her contract.
Kross has appeared in several episodes of The Block, a reality snowboarding show that aired on G4TV, in which the Vivid Girls went to The Block hotel for a photo shoot. She also appeared on the Gene Simmons' reality show, Family Jewels. She was named Penthouse Pet of the Month for September 2008.
Kross writes columns regularly for magazines such as Complex and Xbiz. She hosted the AVN red carpet alongside fellow adult actresses Jesse Jane, Kirsten Price, and guitarist, Dave Navarro in January 2011. That same year, she was named by CNBC as one of the 12 most popular stars in porn. CNBC noted her consecutive nominations by AVN's for performer of the year. Kross played a recurring role as Delillah in Cinamax's "Life On Top" and has been featured regularly on G4 Television as a host, a reality TV guest star, and as a guest on Attack of the Show.
